However, to ensure your drinking water is safe and your tank lasts a long time, regular maintenance is essential. A simple, consistent monitoring plan can prevent most problems before they start. Your Kingspan Water tank, made from durable steel with a protective polymer coating, is built to last. It’s not susceptible to UV damage, giving it exceptional longevity. To keep your system in top condition, we recommend a full inspection every 3 months. Keep the inlet screen free of leaves and debris. Clean your gutters regularly to prevent stagnant water, which can lead to algae. Clean the first flush water diverter on a regular basis. Check that mosquito screens and light guards are working effectively. For a full cleaning, Kingspan recommends flushing all the water from your tank every 3-5 years. If you notice algae or a bad smell, treat the water with a product like Puretec TankSafe Liquid Solution. In severe cases, you may need to completely flush the tank or hire a professional tank cleaner.
